The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s (LACMA) cutting edge membership program, Muse, collaborates with the City of Culver City to present ARTWALK Culver City on Saturday, June 2, 2007. For more than thirteen years, Muse has led LACMA members and non-members alike through Los Angeles’ unique and burgeoning arts scenes. This year, Muse partners with the City of Culver City to bring art lovers to the booming art district, where more than forty galleries will be participating, including pioneer Blum & Poe, Anna Helwing Gallery, BLK/MRKT Gallery, d.e.n. contemporary, LAXART, and many more.
After gallery doors close, the AFTER PARTY begins inside the recently expanded H.D. Buttercup showrooms. Amidst the incredible array of furniture will be three separate stages set up for live music throughout the night, including a performance by Giant Drag, who LA Weekly describes as the “indie rock poster girl of the Silver Lake scene.” Guests will also enjoy 3D motion graphics by Lovemushroom in the showrooms along with hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants and complimentary beer, wine, and cocktails, including a vodka bar presented by Absolut Pears.

Tickets are $20 for Muse members, $30 for non-members, and $35 at the door, and can be purchased at lacma.org or at the LACMA box office. Advance purchase is recommended. All proceeds benefit LACMA and fund programs aimed at supporting burgeoning arts communities. |

This event is a benefit for Levantine Cultural Center, which
has explored contemporary arts and cultures of the Mediterranean
and Middle East, building bridges to peace since 2001. The center
has presented more than 250 concerts, lectures, author events,
comedy/satire shows, film screenings/Q & As, classes and
other public programs. Levantine Cultural Center has worked
with many nonprofit organizations and associations to help promote
more in-depth and alternative information on the Middle East,
as a needed counterweight to the constant barrage of bad news
and negative messages (war, terrorism, corruption). In all the
melee, watching the mainstream media about conflict in the Middle
East, we forget the people, the rich cultures, and those who
are working for peace every day.
The Sultans of Satire: Middle East Comic Relief is an occasion
for topical satire and savage humor about our post-9/11 world.
These young comedians of Arab, Iranian, Jewish and Turkish heritage
spoof the "clash of civilizations" between "us" and "them"—between
America/the West and the Arab/Muslim East. These Americans are
funny people who also work steadily as dramatic actors in film,
television and theatre (bios below).

Born in 1981, Patricio Tron has a long history with classical guitar and Cuban music. He began producing in 2000 and released his groundbreaking album “Existence” in January 2006. Tron’s style is a synergy of both hard hitting twisted beats and some of the most comprehensive compositions ever heard! There is not a beat or a sound that doesn’t have a purpose or reason.
