BIOMORPHICA Bio Thomas Williams is a 3D animator, artist, VJ and programmer. He has created visual light shows for Crystal Method, Emimem and performed with Ornette Coleman, George Clinton, Goldie, Devo and countless DJs at events all over California, as well as New York and Tokyo. He was a founding member several VJ collectives, including Dimension7, UV99, and ran a motion graphics company, RevFX. He has worked at various design houses, including Razorfish, Stardust, Curve, Dimensional Studios, and Cyberlab7. He has created effects work for film, television, games, web 3d, and taught 3d animation. Thomas also has created a body of real-time 3d games and worlds with Director, Cult-3D and vrml, including a cd evangelizing vrml, sponsored by Microsoft and presented at Siggraph 1997. He recently created a cd for New Architecture Magazine that marries the music of DJ Spooky with the work of four world class architects, allowing the user to create dancing architecture by designing synaesthetic interconnections. He also has been working on his own 3d VJ software, which he performs with on occasion. He makes lots of music videos that focus on abstract sculptural music visualization, using everything from video feedback to densely crafted animation and effects tightly synchronized to music. Thomas is from Memphis, Tennessee, and went to school at Cornell, where he earned a dual major in painting and sculpture with a minor in philosophy. He has been animating since 1991, when he bought his first computer, the video toaster. He moved to San Francisco in 1994 and to Los Angeles in 2003. Thomas continues to perform live visuals in LA with the Terpsichore group. He is currently making visual music for Steve Nalepa, Rabbit In the Moon, and Bon Jovi.
